Expand
Collapse

Please submit returns directly to Worn Wear, not to Patagonia. To initiate a return, visit our Worn Wear Returns Portal. You will need your order number and the last name associated with your order. This information can be found in your order confirmation email.

To send us your return, please print out both the return authorization email and the shipping label. Be sure and include the printed email inside your return package and then attach the shipping label to the outside of your package. Alternatively, you may purchase postage directly from the carrier of your choice. If you use the provided label, $7 for return shipping will be deducted from your final refund amount. Drop off your return at any USPS location. If you would like to schedule a pick up, please coordinate scheduling with USPS.

Due to recent changes in our warehouse, returns may take a bit longer than usual to be processed. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause! Please know we are processing all returns in the order we receive them - you’ll get an email confirmation once your return has been processed. Once we process your return, your refund should post within 5-7 business days, depending upon your bank, for the cost of the item(s) and any associated sales tax. If you need assistance during any part of this process, please contact Worn Wear Customer Service at info@wornwear.com.

ENVIRONMENT

Why buy used?

Expand
Collapse

Reusing clothing isn’t just good for your pocketbook, but for the environment. The production of any piece of clothing requires using scarce natural resources. Buying used gear means one less new item that had to be made, lightening the load on our planet. According to WRAP, keeping our clothing in use just nine extra months reduces the related water, waste and carbon footprints by 20% to 30% each.

Where do Worn Wear products come from?

Expand
Collapse

Worn Wear products are Patagonia items that come from our closets and garages. Some pieces have been used by customers and others were collecting dust in our distribution center – they are functionally perfect, but may have a cosmetic flaw. Putting these back into use avoids both the landfill and the need to make new products. All our products are backed by our Ironclad Guarantee.

What about all that shipping?

Expand
Collapse

Although there are environmental impacts of shipping items, when we look at the life-cycle impacts of a product shipping is not the largest contributor. The environmental savings of keeping a product in use (compared to building a new one) outweighs the impact of shipping it.

TRADE IN

How does trade in work?

Expand
Collapse

We accept used Patagonia clothing that functions perfectly and is in good condition. When you bring us your quality, used Patagonia gear we’ll give you a Worn Wear Merchandise Credit valued at up to $100 per item. We accept most Men's, Women's, and Kids' and Baby Patagonia garments, as well as Patagonia luggage. Due to COVID-19, processing trade in’s may take longer than usual.

Can I trade in any type of Patagonia product?

Expand
Collapse

Almost, but not everything. No swimwear, underwear, bras, PBL (Capilene and merino), embroidered items, shoes, wading boots, T-shirts, ski patrol jackets, accessories (hats, scarves, beanies, gloves, socks), waders, wetsuits, sleeping bags or Factory Seconds will be accepted.

Can I trade in items I purchased on Worn Wear?

Expand
Collapse

Yes, absolutely! If you're no longer using the item you purchased on Worn Wear, and it still meets our trade-in standards, we’ll gladly buy it back. The only exception to this are Factory Seconds, which are not accepted for trade in. If the item needs repair, you can always bring it to your local Patagonia shop, or send it in for some love.

Where can I trade in my used Patagonia gear?

Expand
Collapse

Trade-ins can be mailed directly to us using our trade in page or at most Patagonia retail locations (U.S. only). Due to COVID-19, some stores are not currently accepting trade-ins, so please check with your local store. If they are not accepting, you can always mail trade-ins directly to us.

What condition do the items need to be in before I trade them in?

Expand
Collapse

We want your used gear—not your dirty laundry. Please inspect your garments for damage (checklist below), remove anything in pockets, and clean your pieces before trading them in. This makes it easier for our team to process your trade-in and get your gear back in play as quickly as possible! If your gear isn't accepted, we can return it to you for free or recycle it so it stays out of the landfill.

We are unable to accept items in the following conditions:

Damaged: Items with heavy or excessive visible issues are ineligible. Examples include but are not limited to:

• Holes, broken zippers, delamination, material “bubbling,” heavy debris, heavy scuffs, heavy scratches, heavy fading, or if the item is singed (lightly burned)

• Fleece items that are pilling (when knitted fabric forms small balls or fluff on the surface of the garment) or have heavy matting

• A down item with significant down loss or insulation that’s too compressed

• Tenacious tape that’s peeling or placed over garment seams. Please note we’re unable to accept items that have more than 2 patches. (Can it be repaired, instead of traded in? Here’s how to apply T-Tape.)

• If an item shows heavy discoloration, or the color of the garment is severely sun faded it may not be eligible.

Excessive pet hair: We love furry companions but please remove their hair/fur prior to trading in your garments.

Customized: For now, items altered for a custom fit or have embroidery/corporate logos can’t be accepted. We hope to change this in the future, so please stay tuned.

Incomplete: Items missing essential components (i.e. detachable hood, powder skirt, backpack straps, etc.)

• Note: Items must have both the size and care tag with product details attached to be accepted. (The care tag is the sewn-in white label with material and care instructions.)

How does trade in by mail work?

Expand
Collapse

We accept used Patagonia clothing that functions perfectly and is in good condition. When you bring us your quality, used Patagonia gear we’ll give you credit that can be used in Patagonia retail stores, on WornWear.com and Patagonia.com. Please note $7 will be deducted from your trade in value to account for shipping and handling. If your gear isn’t accepted, we can return it to you or recycle it so it stays out of the landfill.

Items without garment tags or that are not in good working condition will not receive any trade in value and will not be returned.

There are few important steps to trade in by mail:

1. Inspect your gear and make sure that what you're sending us is within the scope of the program (check out what we accept HERE)
2. Walk through the online process to make sure your gear is not an accessory or next-to-skin item, and that it is functional for the next user.
3. Print the shipping label and ship us your gear. We will deduct $7 from the credit that you receive for your gear for shipping and handling.
4. We'll send you a credit for any gear that meets the program's requirements, but we won't issue credit for everything. You'll have the option during checkout to have any ineligible gear sent back to you, free of charge.

We request 7-10 business days to get your trade-in processed. Due to recent changes in our warehouse, trade-ins may take a bit longer than usual to be processed. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause! Please know we are processing all trade-ins in the order we receive them - you’ll get an email confirmation once your trade-in has been processed.

Can I mail you my gear for free?

Expand
Collapse

There is a $7 shipping and handling charge which will be deducted from the value of the credit issued for any accepted used gear. To minimize the impact on our planet, we would like to avoid any unnecessary shipping, so please do not ship us any accessories or other items that are not accepted by our trade in program.

Can you send me packaging to mail in my items?

Expand
Collapse

No, we no longer provide mail kits for trade-ins. We recommend shipping your gear in using your own packaging. In the spirit of Worn Wear, extend the life of packaging that already exists, that way we can eliminate the need for any unnecessary packaging and shipping.

Will I get a credit for everything I send in?

Expand

No. We do not accept everything. Gear has to be functional, in great condition and on our list of eligible gear we buy back. Here’s a list of what you can trade in.

When you’re ready to sell back gear you no longer need, check out this handy video to make sure your items are eligible.

What if I'm not happy with the credit I receive?

Expand
Collapse

Please take a look at what your used gear is worth before starting a trade-in to make sure we accept that gear and that you’re aware of the value of your garments. Unfortunately, if the garments you send are not functional or outside the scope of the program, we will not provide credit.

Will you send back the items that are deemed ineligible?

Expand

You have the option to get back any clothing and gear that we don’t accept for trade-in. During your online trade-in, simply check the box that says you want your used gear returned if it is deemed ineligible or unsellable. Return shipping is always free. PRODUCTS

What condition are Worn Wear items?

Expand
Collapse

All Worn Wear orders are processed and inspected by Patagonia. Items purchased through wornwear.com have met our exacting standards and have been washed and cleaned appropriately. Worn Wear items are covered by Patagonia’s Ironclad Guarantee. You can see the details of each item in our product photos and read about the general condition in the description below the image.

How can I tell my size?

Expand
Collapse

Since we don’t necessarily have sizing charts for each of the different years, we can’t provide completely accurate charts. We’re working on the best solution to provide sizing/fit information. At this point, we recommend using the current Patagonia sizing chart for similar new items on Patagonia.com.

I can’t find my size or a color for a specific item.

Expand

Patagonia’s Worn Wear program sources good-quality used clothing from customers, and sometimes new, leftover items. Because we get items from a variety of sources, our inventory is constantly changing, so check back often.

How can I repair & care for my Worn Wear piece?

Expand
Collapse

We teamed up with iFixit to write care and repair guides for nearly every problem we’ve ever heard of with Patagonia gear - find them here. We’ve also got laundry instructions so if your parents are not around, you’re still in luck - find them here. Proper care keeps gear working way longer and that’s the best thing we can do for the planet.

How can I recycle my Worn Wear piece?

Expand
Collapse

We accept all Patagonia products for recycling, and the process is easy. While we encourage you to find a new home for any garments or items that are still useable, any Patagonia product that has reached the end of its useful life may be sent back to us to be recycled or repurposed. Simply wash the items first and use one of the following collection methods:

1. Mail them to the Patagonia Service Center at

Patagonia Service Center
8550 White Fir St.
Reno, NV 89523-8939

2. Drop them off at the Patagonia Retail Store nearest you or at a participating Patagonia dealer—ideally while you’re running other errands, to reduce environmental impact.

These garments are broken down to create one-of-a-kind, upcycled products. All used gear carries on stories from their previous owners. ReCrafted is the next chapter.

If you’ve used your item and no longer need it, trade it in with Patagonia.
